A Special Note
to My Grandchildren

This work is for you, my grandchildren. 

I originally called this project “Dear Grandy” because I saw it as a letter to each of you. I love each of you with every fiber of my being. 

I want you to know that your Grandy sees you as sacred and special, exactly as you are. You don’t need to be saved, fixed, indoctrinated, or controlled. You were born whole. You were born perfect. You were born connected to everything. 

I hope you grow up knowing that spirituality is wonderful for a healthy life, and it can be found on a running trail, in the arms of family, in acts of kindness, in caring for this beautiful earth, and in reaching for every mystery in the stars. 

I hope no one ever tells you that you’re broken. I hope you never carry the guilt that institutional religion so often wraps around people’s hearts. ❤️
